This is how urban dictionary defines it.
It's quite dubious to tell whether being called nerd is a compliment or a taunt. I would personally say that geeks are excessively interesting in particular topics which push them outside the boundaries of social normalities.

Let's get into more details shall we...
I am a person who has surrounded by geeks all the time .(ahemmm...not my mistake, not my choice either). I grew up breathing such geek air. There are many types of geeks like the famous computer geeks, manga geeks ,star trek geeks and so on.They seem to be treated like untouchables sometimes. People don't care to treat them equally. But you know birds of same feather flock together , the geeks have hefty celebrations when they see more of them. Also being geekish is contagious and a true geek will always try to pull "normal" people into the geek world. Moreover, geek has special powers to find other's geekness.
The word has become really synonymous in the phd world. All phds seem to automatically fall into the geek category which is sometimes wrong. Thanks to mass media , the geek word are becoming less condescending now . Its taking a turn and people strive hard to become a geek now.To put it more easy words , geek and cool were antonyms before , now they are synonyms.. People even consider it as badge of honor and the word is now used as a compliment. We all know that knowledge is relative, absolutely relative. some people are going to be always more brainier than us and some people will always be less brainier than us. Such scenarios require a machine to "quantify" it and that's what nerdometer is going to do.

Equipment description

The nerdometer will contain probes which will be fit to your head and it will track the brain activity through the ions that are getting tranferred in the brain. It will also record the conversations and categorise it .Based on the ion exchange level in the brain and the number of categories a numerical relation will be used to find the percentage of geekness in you. This geekness factor will then be used to differentiate the level of geekness from one person to another. The nerdometer will be made available in gaming areas, comic book stores, computer centres, libraries , etc.
The proposal is on now, so people can share their ideas on the factors that have to considered for nerdometer and to make the machine better..Equipment design in "CAD" or as a comic strip is also welcomed.

geek in buddies ...geek in...

P.S dont ask whether I am nerd or not. I dont know the answer..

The Light

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;
I have been in domestic flights many times , but the flight on Aug 3rd 1 a.m in Jet airways was my first international flight. Yes , I was heading to lone star state for my graduate studies. After numerous phone calls to my friends and relatives and innumerous tete-e-tete with my close ones I headed to airport in tavera with 3 huge baggages and a evenmore heavy heart.

I reached airport at around 9 40 pm and was waiting for my uncles and grandma to come. After hearing loads of advice from my grandmother I headed toward the jet airways counter for baggage check-in . The guy at the counter was very kind and issued me the boarding pass for both the flights. The Flight is from Chennai to New York through Brussels(Belgium) for fuelling which is continued by a flight to Dallas in American airlines .
After baggage checkin I came back to see my parents. I bid tem good bye and went to immigration and security check which lasted for 5 mins each. I was constantly questioning the airport officials “is tat all?? am I done with all the formalities” as I heard from my friends that these usually take upto 1 hour. I had 2 hours time , so I ate the chapathis that my mother had packed for me and started out to explore the shops in the airport. There were many shops which had goods which was three times the normal price.
I went to a duty free liquor shop to get change for my 20$ bill . The shop had all the varieties of Johnny walker and Bacardi which was accompanied by beer barrels and Chivas regals. Few men went restless and nervous watching the bottles. There were huge stares from all the men there as I was the only female and they refused to give me change for my 20$ bill. Only 2 calls were made for my flight and people didn’t seem to bother about my flight. I was the last one to board the flight and all the passengers ad to cross two more security checks due to recent bomb blasts in Mumbai ; one before boarding and one before stepping inside the flight.

The flight journey – Chennai to Brussels.

I was traversing through my flight , went through the business class and finally to te economy class and to my seat which was right next to the flight wing which obstructed a beautiful view of Chennai from sky. The flight made an excellent take off and I went through the security videos which was there in TV in front of me. I was imagining how I would swim with the security jacket in on me. I opened it and saw and I was not able to roll it back. I just dumped it under my seat and watching the list of movies that was available in that TV. After few minutes of take off I was offered some European food which was like a sandwich made of wet naan filled with vegetables and it also had a side dish which tasted like a spicy salsa. There was a beautiful young lady from Brussels sitting beside me . After gulping the tasty apple juice I forced myself to sleep to avoid jet lag.

The flight landed in Brussels and it was drizzling. I could see small droplets of water collecting on my window and the wings which sheened in the morning light. I felt proud like superman with his head held high when the European girl who sat beside me was writing about Chennai Super kings in her note book. I wanted to tell her..”yeah baby !!! that my favourite team ” !! The airport was wonderful and had a tight security. I couldn’t take snaps as I didn’t take my camera or my mobile. I wanted to call my parents so I exchanged Indian money for euros to an Indian. One call in airport costs 2 Euros for 1 minute , quite expensive. But I didn’t care much.
After the security checks I was roaming in the airport and searching for gate 37 where I had to board my flight again. I saw many Indian students who had come in my flight. Each of us had to take a different flight from New York to reach our universities.

Brussels to NewYork.
Most of the Europeans who came in my flight got down and a US citizen was sitting beside me now.Jet airways was constantly feeding me with wonderful food like how a mother does to a new born baby. The hospitality was great and the airhostess gave me apple juice whenever she saw me. 
I was quite bored in this leg of journey so I started watching movies. I watchded hall pass, Limitless (not good but watced it for Bradley cooper),just go with it and 2 episodes of coffee wit karan which had ranbir and imran khan in an episode and deepika and sonam on the other. I just realized how dumb relationsips are among the celebrities. I also realized that Adam sandler, Owen Wilson and Bradley Cooper have become old and not fit to be heroes . ( I will exempt Bradley here…he is still cool  ).After I watched few videos regarding the US immigration which were quite useful.

NewYork to Dallas

I reached NY where I had my Port of Entry . Once the immigration was over I had to collect my baggage and re-check in for the next flight in American Airlines. I had 3 hrs transit time so I was checking out the shops in JFK. Most of the shops had Indian in them either as owners or as workers. I checked out the famous I love NY tshirts and other NY soveneirs. The flight to Dallas in American airlines was the worst leg in the entire journey. Everything was charged in the flight unlike jet airways which provided me with apple juice time to time. There were 2 grandpas who were the pilots and eventually the air hosts too. The cock pit was quite open and it had 1000 buttons which were quite confusing. I was feeling really air sick and I was about to puke anytime. The view of US from sky is great . The 3 hour journey was accompanied by a movie which nobody could see from a distant small screen and people were huge taking up all the oxygen and making me suffocate. Without an announcement everybody knew they were in Dallas as the temperature was souring 45 deg C . I felt immense relief as my 32 hour journey got over and also due to that fact that flight jouney in AA was over.My brother and my cousin was waiting in the baggage collection counter . We drove to my cousins place for an hour or so and I felt that the place resembled Chennai except for the fact that buildings were far apart and the roads were clean.

Things I noticed in US so far

1.I took me some time to digest the fact that sun sets at night 9 pm here. Sun is active all the time and the temperature is same throughout the day.

2.Till now I have gone to Walmart, ATnT showroom , an Indian restaurant, Love field airport (another small airport in dallas) and my brothers college (his dept and labs).

3.Everybody greets here..

4.Majority of the people are obese.

5.There are wide variety of potato chips and they are tasty. Most of the food contains saturated fat.

6.Houses here are big and widely spaced.

7.Airport toilets are bad. Toilets were good in Indian airports.

8.People tell the highway number to give directions. Road names are rarely used.

9.It is easy to drive cars here. Most of the cars don’t have clutches and gear system is easy and automatic.

10.You have to put petrol in your cars, there wont be anybody in petrol bunks. My mind is quite blank now without any thoughts of the new land that I am going to go or any feelings for leaving my country.
Many people asked me why I didn’t take up higher studies in India. I did try to study in India. I wrote GATE exam and got a rank of 700 which is quite not enough to get into top IITs. While writing GATE I didn’t think much about PhD. GATE exam was a very big disappointment for me because I had worked so hard on it. But once I finished college I realized what mistakes I made and I have planned to correct it.
The next best option was to apply for higher studies in USA. A sudden idea sparked in my mind called PhD. Previously I forgot to apply for PhD in India. I just realized that I would do well in research. When I told my parents regarding my decisions they gave their full assent but lot of questions lurked their mind as to what will they do for money and when to get me married. My mother is still worried about the fact that it is difficult to find potential suitors for a girl pursuing PhD. All these things never even entered my ear. My dad told me to earn money and apply myself. The Whole application process was well planned though I realized now that I could have researched more on colleges and the actual research. (This repenting action will never leave me even if I give my best). Now I know a great deal about the colleges in USA and in India along with their application process and the wide variety of courses that are offered in both the countries.

Research Comparisons

When it comes to research I feel that USA is indefinitely superior than India. This is not a random statement that I am making rather it is an inference of a comprehensive research that I have done in the past few days. I took a common area of research in Chemical Engineering and checked out the level of complexity and the technology used in US and India. I took a small example of conversion of biological matter into gasoline which is an application of Reaction Engineering. This is one of the most common research going on in USA and an upcoming research in India. I had also compared the simulation methods and the equipments used in the research. Also I came to know that few complex simulation methods (phenomenological Simulation – don’t ask me to explain) were used in 1 or 2 institutes in India and not much in USA. Conversely few simulation methods were really widespread in USA (Montecarlo Simulation). Although the research topic was same I could find that the research done in USA had immediate applications whereas in India it was still in papers. This is one the prime distinguishing factor. This is due to the fact that India is not investing much on alternative fuels whereas the Department f Energy in USA is spending hell lot of money on finding alternative fuels. All of USA is waiting for a breakthrough in energy sector .This may be in the form of fuel cells, alternative fuels, bio fuels, renewable energy, etc. Hence most of the projects are well funded. Parallel to it, India is fighting against oil prices. The price of petrol in India is constantly on the rise. This is due to the fact that Reliance ( a fast growing oil company with latest technology ) is importing good quality crude oil from Libya and Somalia when compared to other oil companies and is trying lay this high price on all citizens. The Indian government has a low voice in it as the company is the fastest growing oil and natural gas company and is contributing a lot to the country’s GDP. Additionally the 7.2 Billion deal with BP regarding the 30% stake for BP in 23 oil and natural gas fields operated by Reliance has indefinitely made the company a super power laying its effect again on the citizens. Furthermore based on this Reliance-BP deal Nomura company has predicted that the oil prices will go upto rs.111 in the upcoming years. (Source – India Today) Nobody is much bothered to question the government regarding this issue. Even if somebody does it will vanish into thin air before the power tycoons of India.
Coming back to USA, If you remember well USA acquired all the oil wells in Iraq few years back by waging a war against them. This is now not spoken of lately but it is one of the most brutish things that USA has done. They have enough resources to support their citizens. In USA, on an average each family has 2 cars and each citizen in USA is spending more fuel than one nuclear family in India. One of my relatives in USA has 4 cars for each member of their family!!!
Ok , I stop here. I guess I have loaded with facts. What I am trying to say here is that India is doing research on same topics time to time. Any new venture remains as only publications. Even if it used very less revenue is generated from it. Whereas, USA is exploring into a lot of new fields time to time. They are ready to invest lot of money in research and know how to get profit out of it.

Student point of view comparisons

“All work and no application make my research a dull publication”. I feel that good research should always have good applications in Industries. This should always be a driving factor while doing research. Moreover I haven’t considered the fact of taking the academic line after doing PhD. I am sure that the average salary of a professor in USA in more than that of any professor in USA. I have another important point to make here. People go to USA only for money.(the ulterior reason- even though few students may tell that I am going to US for advanced technology) A PhD student in India gets an average of Rs 20,000 per month, whereas a PhD student in USA gets an average of 1500$ per month. Within the 5 years of their graduate study I bet they can earn a big deal of money. Also I don’t approve of the fact the there is an advantage of staying with parents and relatives when you are doing PhD in India as we will be implicitly spending “n” numbers of hours in lab be it India or USA. I feel that I will be spending equal amount of time with family and relatives while in USA or India. (this is subjected to change as I haven’t considered Indian festivals in USA . I am yet to experience it.)

Taxes

When I was doing my undergraduate I didn’t know much about the taxes in USA. I just let out a random statement to few of my lab mates and few professors in a “ well reputed college” that taxes are low in USA when compared to India. This statement was followed by coarse reprimands for 1 hour which I didn’t bother much to ponder at that time. Few days back I was just checking out the slabs and tax rates in USA and was really astounded by the figures and my innocence in UG. Almost of half of your Salary in USA goes for taxes alone. India is indeed heaven when compared to USA in this issue. Moreover there are very less tax exemption options in USA when compared to India.

Travel options and Nature

I could see that there are lot of places of visit in USA and the number of trees is way far higher than in India. Also I haven’t seen all 6 seasons in India. I have heard that in places like Kashmir and Punjab, nature will be at its best, but I didn’t get an opportunity to stay for an entire year in those places where nature was at its best. I hope I will be experiencing more variety of flora and fauna in US. The fall colors are famous in USA !!! Want to check it out. Also there is no places like Las Vegas in India. Even if it were there it would have been flooded by drunkards and rogue gamblers.

Efforts made by me for better India.

Many people advised me that that I should never let out any pessimistic statements about our country. By letting so, I did get lot of chides my dad and my uncles who have been in top positions in all government offices in India. Beneath all this we should forgot to know how to differentiate good by the bad. There are certain good things and certain bad things in our country. We should try to view both from an unbiased perspective. Let me tell you an example, I am one of those persons who give lot of importance to civic sense. Way back in my UG, I found that many of my classmates were littering the class with papers and all sorts of things. I tried to correct them thinking that each one should inculcate good civic sense in them. I thought it is upto to change ourselves to develop India into a better nation. I just ended up making few enemies who never wanted to even talk to me again. I guess I was the only captain planet in disguise. I have tried the same correcting people against bribing, cheating and other mal practices too. But I could see when people are stuck in trouble they will cross any boundaries to come out of it and there is always the situation which made them do mistakes standing as a strong backbone for it. Conversely , I even saw that people who follow such good practices tend to more susceptible to tough challenges in life and are quite aggressive and strict in adhering to their principles and less likely to be easy going. I don’t think this is the situation in USA. Atleast People don’t litter the surroundings. !! Additionally I don’t like the way Indians copy the west. I feel that we have more originality than them. It s a fact that we are quite hesitant to reveal our thoughts and are concerned about what other will think about us than what you think about yourself. We should also try to stop plagiarism which is widespread from frivolous things like Horlicks to complex things like Semi conductor processing.

"Not so good" things in USA

I don’t seem to like the US culture regarding relationships. I am always an ardent supporter of “One-Love”. Also, I don’t think I will approve of pool parties or topless or bottomless parties either. One more thing to be thought about in USA is the medicine field. I feel that Indian doctors are better than US doctors. (Considering the fact that “house” serial is fictional) . US has its own set of culture and traditions which are quite different from ours. I like ours more. I think if we reason out our customs and traditions well then there will be a decline in people aping the west.

Mera Shehar Mera Desh !!!

For the past few months my house is suffering from acute water shortage and sewage problems. I am really sick of it now and I could see that many places in Chennai are like this. But amidst those problems I realized many things and learnt how to cope with real day problems of my life which will go along way in my life. Whatever the place I may go, I am definitely going to Miss India. I will miss the excellent wide variety of Indian cuisines and my family very much. There are few good companies in India which are worth sweating your blood. One day I will come back to join in such companies or start my own company in my homeland.
This post is subjected to change. I haven’t experienced few things and have gained knowledge through papers, television and other media. !!
A better version of my personal experience will come after a year or two !

CTS Life

June 7
is quite an unforgettable day in my life. I joined Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) that day.

May 6 was the last working of my undergraduate life. That was also a temporary pause to my career in chemical engineering. Banking too much on GATE and lack of assertiveness for not applying for higher studies during my final year made me rued in regret for the rest of the holidays which eventually happened to be short-lived. Having made a quick decision of writing GRE gave me some focus and kept me occupied from may 6 to june 7th. Additionally my over studious company made it compulsory for me to go through e-learning modules on some random softwares which had nothing impressive but for the voice of tutor.

1 week before june 7 (31 may) I had got a mail that had to had to report to CTS mepz .
The mail not only disappointed me but also shattered my enjoyment as I was not able to attend my cousin's wedding which was on reporting day. The much awaited wedding of the family took place with out me which was quite mentally excruciating as I have never been lucky to enjoy a marriage completely.

On the reporting day I lay like a mentally struck dumb duck following the footsteps of my father to the giant building in MEPZ- Tambaram. My heart was shuttling between my long time chemical engineering dream and the marriage that i was supposed to attend. Once I reached there .. few of my actech pals were there to make me realize that I wasn't the only one who was like a fish out of water. Soon after the document checks we were made to sit in hall where AC almost killed us . Both the free lunch and the talk by the HR (you know who) wasn't impressive and added fuel to the already furiously burning fire. The whole batch of students were split into groups and sent for training in certain softwares.

Academy Life

CTS - Academy (training center) is one of the coolest places where I got a new set a friends. This period chilled me a lot and made my life very comfortable. The academy also happened to be one of the unforgettable period in my life. The first few days were quite boring with the tutor named Hema who taught us C language. Being an epitome of boredom , Hema put me to sleep instantly with her drones. After a series of complaints our batch, which consisted of 20 associates , managed to chuck her and get a new tutor. The classes which initially started with C, continued with C++ and Microsoft dotnet framework cutting across topics like C# , SQL plus , ADO.Net & ASP.Net and little bit of HTML & XML. The academy can be described as a dynamic place with activities happening every day. One of the notable and memorable event is the fun games that took place ever friday. The fun games were the most enjoyable sessions in academy. It glued all the batchmates and offered a nice pastime amidst the boring classes. My gang of friends included Sandhya, Ayesha, Aarti, Balaji & me. The break sessions, bantering, weekend hang-outs during the training was really an unforgettable experience. (see FB photos-will be uploaded soon) The journal work that I took up in Academy , the over-hyped empower sessions which was ended in a silent trace, the module tests which was bolstered by dumps, the brainbench tests which never required our brain are some of things that added spice. Then came the time , where we had to part, called posting.
After a small time of suspense I came to know that I was posted in CTS- Nalavur branch .

Navalur

On the dry, yet to fully develope OMR lies a building which extends to a great length called CTS Navalur near Quality Inn hotel. Totally 6 of my batchmates were posted here for a project called C&P systems for the client Lloyds Banking Group (a UK Bank). The project involved knowledge in .Net 3.5 for which we were sent back to academy for extra training. The training was good as it created a college like environment for us again. Those were the golden where we used to run off to our houses at 5 or 6p.m.
Since the C& P systems project was won in bid by HCL team we got allocated to a project called Bancassurance Managed Services (BMS). The project had intense security which didn't allow mobile phone with camera making the place appear like jail.Luckily my friends got moved to CTS , MEPZ branch and got allocated to different projects. Three of us were retained in the navalur branch in BMS project and one of the three got shifted to another project in the subsequent days.
Our Project had developed an aplication called "Plan. It" using VB. It is one of the complex things that I have ever seen in my life. Even the most toughest simulations that i have seen in my college seemed to be like small pebbles before that application. Learning inch by inch the application was one of the herculean task that I did . Before we could even touch the application we were made to take seminars in .Net 3.5 for which we had preciously undergone training. The training sessions were one of the challenging things that I have done in my life. I was like a goat surrounded by wolfs which devoured me by blasting questions from all sides. Those training sessions made me learn new survival skills which will go a longway in my life. Soon after the sessions I was given a case study on VB6 called Archival Information System , which helped me learn VB to some extent. Sometime during december our team went to Rain Forest restaurant in Adyar which was quite memorable.
During the last week of december , My Project manager gave a treat in Southern Residency hotel in Kelambakkam. The car trip to Kelambakkam in my team lead's car was quite memorable. He is one of the coolest drivers that I have ever seen. The way he shifts gear and overtakes big trucks smoothly is quite amazing. We also happened to go Kwality Rivera restuarant which is few yards from my office.
I liked the tea breaks and lunch breaks in my office. Archana, Natchiar , Sandhya and me used to have a nice time during the breaks. Those breaks really made me office life quite worthwhile.
During the end of january , Archana and me got a mini project of developing a website called e-notice board for the account. The website designing work was very interesting and challenging and kept us busy for few days. It was to be integrated with the lloyds portal , an existing website of the lloyds account.
One of the most cherishing event is the team outing to Mamalla resort which we went during february. The outing was organised by Archana and me and this was the first time that we undertook a outdoor organising work. We started to resort with little mayhem as they were confusions as to who has to go in which car.
As soon as we reached the resort, we played throw ball and few others played volley ball. The outdoor games were quite relaxing and was continued by badminton and indoor games which were again organised by us.After finishing the "not-so-super" food we started to our houses with lot of memories.
Once the e-notice board got over, we started with another case study relating to our project which was a Himalayan task for us.
We just managed to add a tumble of water to the ocean called Plan.it. No remarkable changes were seen in our intellectual level but we got really comfortable with the work that we had to do.
In between the busy schedules we used to have ice breakers like "Who am I?" where one person will be made a scape goat and all sort of questions will be asked to them. There are also sessions like group discussions to improve our communication skills and fungama activities (fun games) which kept our engines running smoothly without any stress. My organizing capabilities have increased by organizing activities like these.
Spring came soon with lot of changes in the office. I was unofficially shifted to operation support team which is considered to be a busy job. Though during the start I was tensed a little bit , later I found op sup very interesting. It increased my observing skills to some extent. .
One of the coolest things in my office was the LIFT events (Lloyds Insurance Fun Time) where various sports events were conducted. I participated in almost all the events like carom, cricket & badminton which were very sportive.
Other memorable events include watching India vs Pakistan match in LCD tv in cafeteria with the whole crowd roaring and cheering the Indian team. I also loved playing doosra game and generation cognizant for which I won a world clock. I had the most memorable birthday in CTS...
Then I got an admission from TAMU to pursue my PhD in USA.
Along with the admit I did get lot of work in office ...The Change requests were quite interesting and challenging.

Then came a day (30 march) where I just clicked a button to submit my resignation.
Then came a day to say good bye to my friends.
My CTS chapter gets over in my life.......

Random thoughts

Today is one of those bad days at office. The day that caused much frustration and led me to gush out my emotions. You know what...My brain keeps thinking about something or the other like a running stream. I am not able to rest my mind even for 1 sec. This has been my advantage and also my disadvantage. The advantage is that I am able to bring about many new ideas and the disadvantage is I have lost mental calmness. A few searches in Google revealed that anybody by the name Nirupama will have characteristics of the river. I read that they seem to calm on the outside but their mind keep flowing like river. Alright coming to the point... Many such random thoughts have accumulated in my brain now and I want to purge it for the better of myself. So I thought of washing it down in my blog... (One of the ideas that sprouted in my brain.)
Well I could not classify any of the thoughts into categories since it were totally random so I have just written what struck my mind.
I can see that most of the people try to skim texts even in many important documents. I want to know why I don’t have a boy friend. Even if I had one I don’t know what to talk or how to maintain the relationship. I was wondering whether love makes people really blind. Well when my friends tell stories I could see that it makes them dumb also. I don’t know why lovers want to touch continuously. Will everybody feel so insecure or is it because sudden increase in hormones???Why do men flaunt to get the girls aren’t there any other way to reach to women’s heart??? Should brain never be used when in love??? How to differentiate between work of brain and work of heart ….When conscience bites somebody for the mistake that they have made how to find it without them confessing. Why god slow in his work is (is he trying to follow thermodynamic principles. - “it will happen – don’t know when”. What do other girls do when they are frustrated? Why are we made to respect few dumb elders who don’t have anything worthy except their age?
Why do men always try to maintain “good boy “image towards girls… Why is it wrong to ask a man’s salary? Why do men take loans so unnecessarily to maintain their “good boy” image even though they know very well that they can’t repay. Is it always good to move with people of your wavelength?? I want to know why people start advising when they get older.
There are many more random thoughts, but frustration is not allowing me to do…Want to lie in grasslands and gaze at the sky. !!!! Want a break seriously !!

Ubercool things that I want to do in my life

Copyrights reserved to NiruIncorporate.

I have this habit of listing down things that I want to do. One such thing is Sanskrit.
There is a clichéd opinion that Sanskrit is a long forgotten language, difficult to speak or learn and a language only spoken by the sages. Throwing light on the language to remove the ignorant opinion held by people and to exalt its uniqueness is the prime motive of this write up. I have also tried to cover few historical texts which are slowly fading away from the Indian brains.

Sanskrit, being one the oldest languages in the world, is a well structured and a well organized language which is very easy to learn. Deriving from the Devanagri script, both Hindi and Sanskrit has the same alphabets (letters) but differs only in the pronunciation.
The grammar for Sanskrit was written by a great sage Panani in the famous “Ashtadyayi” where he has covered the entire grammar in “8 chapters”. The grammar covers many features of the language like swara (vowels), vyanjana (consonants) , sandhis (combination of words) , samaas (description diff to put it in a bracket) , Prathyaya, (prefixes/suffixes), etc.

It is believed that Sanskrit letters originated from Lord shiva’s Damaru (musical instrument present in his trident) and is called “Maaheshwara Sutrani” . The basics of Sanskrit language and few of my favourite slokas will be covered in subsequent posts).

The Sanskrit literature is very rich and has innumerable texts which serve as backbone to all most all the literature works written in India. Many languages use Sanskrit words in the literature. Few of the greatest poets in Sanskrit include – Kalidasa & Bhaaravi.
I have made a list of texts along with their description and the author .You may find some new and interesting information about the texts which you wouldn’t have heard before. 

Name of text - Author - Description
Ramayana- Valmiki -Life history of Lord Rama
Mahabharatha- Vyasa- Was initially called "jayam" had the story of pandavas and Kauravas.(10000 slokas) Many anecdotes were added to make into an epic (1 lakh slokas). One famous anecdote include "Naladamayanthi". Scritures say tat it was narrated by vyasa and written by Lord Ganesha.
Bhagavath Gita -Part of Mahabharatha- Conversation by Lord Krishna & Arjuna durig the kurukshetra war.
Bhagavatham- Panduranga- Glory of Lord Krishna
Arthshaastra- Kautilya- statecraft, economic policy and military strategy
Kadambari & harshcharita-Baanabhatta Romance novel about a king name Shudraka (interesting story)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kadambari
Harshacharitha is about the life of King Harsha
Panchatantra -Vishnu Sharma- Fables
Hitopadesha -Independent treatment of Panchatantra - Exposition on statecraft written for young princes so that they can easily understand. (esp for dumb ones  )
Chanakya Neethi -Chanakya -Chanakya was a clever courtier famous for his practical & shrewd solutions to King Chandragupta of Maurya dynasty. He is the brain behind political science. It contains verses which can be used for day to day happening in your life.
Kamasutra- Vatsayana- you know what :) was written in Abhira kingdom .
Sulvasutra - Baudhayana, Manava, Apastamba and Katyayana- Geometry & altar construction . Advanced mathematics.
Charakha-samhita -Charakha Ayurveda and Indian medicine

P.S : Vedas , Brahmanas, aranyakas, Upanishads, puranas, Vedangas, are not covered in the list due to the vastness.

Special tribute to Kalidasa

Kalidasa

One of the great poets of Sanskrit has written numerous works in Sanskrit which are worth mentioning. Is works are called “draksha paakaha” - as his slokas are easy to eat like grapes. He is considered to be one of the "nine gems" at the court of the king Vikramaditya of Ujjain. He is also believed to be courtesan at King Vikramaditya and King Bhoja’s Court. ( No historical proof as to which is the right one). Using similes (upama) to make the verses short, elegant and simple to understand is his forte.

Kalidasa’s work taken from Wikipedia

Kālidāsa wrote three plays. Among them, Abhijñānaśākuntalam ("Of Shakuntala recognised by a token") is generally regarded as a masterpiece. It was among the first Sanskrit works to be translated into English, and has since been translated into many languages.

• Mālavikāgnimitram ("Mālavikā and Agnimitra") tells the story of King Agnimitra, who falls in love with the picture of an exiled servant girl named Mālavikā. When the queen discovers her husband's passion for this girl, she becomes infuriated and has Mālavikā imprisoned, but as fate would have it, Mālavikā is in fact a true-born princess, thus legitimizing the affair.

• Abhijñānaśākuntalam ("Of Shakuntala recognised by a token") tells the story of King Dushyanta who, while on a hunting trip, meets Shakuntalā, the adopted daughter of a sage, and marries her. A mishap befalls them when he is summoned back to court: Shakuntala, pregnant with their child, inadvertently offends a visiting sage and incurs a curse, by which Dushyanta will forget her completely until he sees the ring he has left with her. On her trip to Dushyanta's court in an advanced state of pregnancy, she loses the ring, and has to come away unrecognized. The ring is found by a fisherman who recognizes the royal seal and returns it to Dushyanta, who regains his memory of Shakuntala and sets out to find her. After more travels, they are finally reunited.

• Vikramōrvaśīyam ("Pertaining to Vikrama and Urvashi") tells the story of mortal King Pururavas and celestial nymph Urvashi who fall in love. As an immortal, she has to return to the heavens, where an unfortunate accident causes her to be sent back to the earth as a mortal with the curse that she will die (and thus return to heaven) the moment her lover lays his eyes on the child which she will bear him. After a series of mishaps, including Urvashi's temporary transformation into a vine, the curse is lifted, and the lovers are allowed to remain together on the earth.

[[Shakuntala stops to look back at Dushyanta by Raja Ravi Varma ]]

Poetry

• Raghuvaṃśa is an epic poem about the kings of the Raghu dynasty.
• Kumārasambhava is an epic poem which narrates the birth of Kartikeya, Parvati being sent by her father to serve the meditating Siva, Manmadha attempting to create love in Siva for Parvati, Siva destroying Manmadha in his fury, Parvati's penance for Siva, Siva agreeing to marry Parvati, Siva and Parvati living in marital bliss, etc.
• Ṛtusamhāra describes the six seasons by narrating the experiences of two lovers in each of the seasons.
• Meghadūta or Meghasāndesa is the story of a Yaksha trying to send a message to his lover through a cloud. Kalidasa set this poem to the 'mandākrānta' meter known for its lyrical sweetness. It is one of Kalidasa's most popular poems and numerous commentaries on the work have been written. As far as I know most of the north Indians staying in Chennai can’t even speak a single sentence in Tamil. Unlike other metropolitan cities where even bus numbers and bill boards are written in their state’s native language making life hell for people from other states, Chennai has all the Bus numbers, street names and bill boards in both English and Tamil to make the tourists stay in Chennai easier.

If a city’s progress and openness is based on the number of pubs and discotheques Chennai might ending getting the last position as it endears its traditions and customs as a part of everyday life. Even more if you still perceive liberalism in terms of youth hanging out in pairs in public places doing lewd things, then it is suggestive of country’s debauched youth with wine and women and not a youth with a aspiration for the nation who make the major part of this city.

Chennai’s Unique Features

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KUcG2BYDOBY/TNgp2fAsTVI/AAAAAAAABE4/2cl3DHxYfh8/s320/Chennai-Super-Kings-CSK.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5537221757866102098" />

Chennai has one of the exquisite cuisines in India. Apart from the idly , Dosa , Vada , sambar , chutney (the list is big) there are other dishes like pongal, Paniyaram, adai, aapam , rasam & so on which may be unknown to outsiders but serve as living heritage of the city. Chennai is also famous for shallots (madras Onion) which is part of many dishes. Traditionally prepared Filter Kapi is a part of our blood and is integrated and passed generations over generations as Coffee gene showing dominance in function.   

The city is classified as a Gamma+ World City. Chennai has the second largest beach and many more tourists’ attractions which are not visited by many tourists due to bad publicising. The OMR ,ECR, Vedandangal Bird Santuary , Vandalur Zoo, Malls , Clubs etc are worth visiting. Chennai is one of cleanest of all metropolitan cities and the traffic is way smoother than other Cities.

Chennai is an important centre for Carnatic Music and hosts a large cultural event, the annual Madras Music Season, which includes performances by hundreds of artists. The city has a vibrant theatre scene and is an important centre for the Bharatanatyam, a classical dance form. Drama is a part and parcel of Chennaiites and is still famous for comedy genre.

Some of the biggest names in the Indian film fraternity like ARR, Ilaiyaraaja, K. Balachander, Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam and S. Shankar are based out of Chennai. Moreover , great scientists and nobel laureates like Ramanujam , C.V.Raman , Venkataraman Ramakrishnan and Chandrasekhar are all from Chennai.

To wrap up, I would say that people of Chennai are world-famous for their hospitality and warmth. Their self-possessed behavior, humility & modest nature makes them more unique than the place as such.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 204px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KUcG2BYDOBY/TNgp07g_LMI/AAAAAAAABEo/KgHJAjt20iU/s320/Kapaleeshwarar-Temple-Chennai.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5537221731158011074" />

PS:

This is a post which has resulted out of many experiences which I have gone through personally in different places in India. There had been many situations where few people humiliated my place and my people without knowing anything about it. I don’t want to shun away telling that those people’s ignorance is bliss rather I like to prove that my city is no lowlier than theirs.

Rajini - The Mass

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 238px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KUcG2BYDOBY/TMRUm1ifZRI/AAAAAAAABDk/67wpIBEygKU/s320/enthiran-robot-rajini-hair-style.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531639268501316882" />
Rajini – The Mass

Once when I was in third standard, my grandmother sat down to teach me tamil. Simultaneously Rajini Movie was about to start in TV, the usual R—A---J---N—I word (in tamil letters) was flashing letter by letter like bullets on the screen. It was such that, it happened to be the first word that I learnt in Tamil. Soon Sun TV introduced the Nakaichuvai thingal, Kadhal Sevvai, Adhiradi vyazhan …(the daily movie series) from which I learnt not only tamil but also started watching many Rajini films.

That’s how it all started.
That’s when I became a Rajini fan.

Many may call him old grandpa or untalented blacky but the man has the charm to attract millions. There are many things which I need to tell about Rajini. First and the foremost is his style. You should look his cigarette tricks in “Nenaithale Inikum” movie. The way he puts his cigarette in his mouth and gimmicks its smoke is unforgettable to any aficionado of Rajini.

The next best thing about Rajini is his simplicity. Even though he is considered as superstar he always keeps his head low which is indeed the most difficult thing to do when one is showered with almost all the best things in life. Not many can keep themselves in control and be the same for years with such popularity and entourage following them.

Third is his superstardom which came to him automatically from the people. The dialogs become punch dialogs only when Rajini says it. The way Rajini says “Baadshah Manick Baadshah” , “Na oru dhadhava sonna nooru dhadhava sonna madiri”, “hahahha” (Rajini smile) , “kanna jujubi”, “ Adhikama aasa padra aamblayum adhikama kova padra pombalayum nalla vazhdandha sarithrame kadaiyadhu” , “ nee ponnu na payyan “ ( I call it punch) has indeed created a niche for him in Tamil cinema.

To commemorate his superstar-dom and his simplicity I have decided to pen down my personal views on 3 movies of Rajini that I enjoyed the most. These 3 reviews are some of my favorite Rajini movies which also stand as bastions to Tamil cinema & Rajini’s Career.

Netrikan

Netrikan is a story about a weakness (gals) of a very successful Enterpreneur Chakaravarthi (Appa Rajini) with a little bit of self pride on his achievements as one of richest person in Coimbatore. He is a great womanizer who is capable of picking up any cute chick. He has a son Santhosh, (Rajini again) and a daughter Sangeetha (the great golti action queen Vijayashanthi) and an OFFICIAL wife Meenakshi (Lakshmi).During the course of movie Radha (Saritha) gets introduced as a candidate for PRO (Public Relations Officer) interview and eventually gets selected and she is sent to Hong Kong for training. Our Chakaravarthy goes to Hong Kong and rapes her.( X-ray glasses scene is typical of playboy of perverted playboy Rajini). In the meantime his son gets to know his weakness and starts reforming him. Later Radha joins Santhosh this "Critical" mission. The rest of the story is how they reform Chakaravarthi a highly perverted, influencial Rajini. The screenplay is awesome in the movie. Each scene has a lot of twist and turns the dialogues between Appa Rajini(Chakaravarthi) and Papa Rajini (good boy Santhosh) is mind blowing. The peak performance of the super star is exhibited in every inch of the movie and the self pride he shows is at its best when he says "Nee Yuvarajana nan Chakaravarthi da". Also the dialog where Rajini explains his bedroom to the young chicks is notable. “Ramanin moganam “and “mapillai ku mamam manasu” had very apt lyrics and picturisation. The Dresses worn by Appa Rajini (esp the warbrobe scenes with matching matching suites and shoes), the Georgette with silver Zari worn by the ladies the in movie are one of kind during the yester years. Rajini had done a challenging job by switching his role to extreme perverted Chakravarthi and Extremely good Santhosh role.

Thillu Mullu

Thillu mullu is laugh riot which was one of the greatest hits of Rajini. The movie proved the he could do great comedy in every reel of the movie. Ayyampettai Arivudainambi Kaliyaperumal Chandran (Rajini with moustache) is a hip graduate who gets a job through his family doctor. His employer, Sri Ramachandramurthi (awesome role played by thenga srinivasan) has some orthodox notions about character, moustache, patriotism, thrift, recreation, etc. Ayyampettai Arivudainambi Kaliyaperumal Chandran disguises as a Nehru-jacket wearing, boring person, with no interests other than studies to get the job. Unknown to him, his boss finds him having a fiesta in the football stadium(black bird scene is awesome). To avoid losing his job, he creates a fictional wild and westernized twin Ayyampettai Arivudainambi Kaliyaperumal Indran by removing his moustache on the advice of his actor friend Nagesh (meesai irindal Chandran meesai illane indran) and becomes the music teacher for his equally wild daughter. Confusion and complications intertwine with comedy through the rest of the movie. The dialogs are so great that it stays engraved in your heart. I enjoyed the scenes where Chandran talks to SriRamachandramurthi.

“ Unga Kai a Na Kaala Nenaichikaren sir” .
“ Varathaiku vartha enga appa sonnaru enga appa sonnaru “ – by Nagesh.
“Modhala nee oru Indian aparam than Tamizhan “. – Rajini
Adhennai Bommai sattaila – Thengai Srinivasan
"nan solradha appadiye thirumba sollunga - Oru kattu sullila oru sulli kona sulli" for which the candidate says "Vendam sir risku".
“ Cigarette a Vaiya vechone guppu guppu poga vandhidu”
“Pleasure is mine “ – by sowcar Janaki

The songs “ thillu mullu tillu mullu “ and “ Annangale thambi gale” where Rajini comes in different get-ups is fabulous. Although the “ Ragangal 16” song doesn’t suit Ayyampettai Arivudainambi Kaliyaperumal Indran Rajini shimmers his style gimmicks throughout the song. The movie is an epic.

Enthiran

Enthiran was a surely a blast. Rajini’s character started as villain and he is still the best in it , which he proved again recently in Enthiran. It was really a feast to see villain Rajini after so many years. He had given his best shot for the “chitti” role. The movie starts with “pudhiya manidha “ song where Vaseegaran(scientist Rajini) creates a robot with “Speed 1 tera Hertz , memory 1 zetta bytes”. The movie proceeds with a small tiff with Sanaa (Aishwarya Rai)and kaadhal anukkal song. The rest of the movie deals with exhibiting the various powers of Chitti based on the situations. There are few scenes that are worth mentioning. The way “Chitti” changed its hairstyle and gave a necklace with a rose for Sana’s birthday was really awesome. The “Arima Arima” song with a graphic extravaganza and the dance in “Irumbile Oru Idhaiyum” had well thought over choreography and the apt lyrics which were coherent with the story. The “kilimangaro “ song was likable as it was shot in one of my favourite places Macchu Picchu (I love civilizations ) . The innovative names Rangusky and dengue lakshmi, Vaseengaran’s lab & really cute Robot R2 are really new and catchy in the movie. The way “Chitti” finds Vaseegaran (black sheep) is the best in the movie as it has a perfect combination of common sense and graphic effects. Although the movie doesn’t have any punch dialog the goaty sarcastic “maaa” compensates for the lack of punches.
The well acclaimed 60 core 40 minute climax scene is really turned to be a “kaisu yetha paniyaram”.

Few of my other favourite Rajini Movies are Nenaithale Inikum, Moonrumugam , Moonrumudhichu , Nallavan ku nallavan , Raja thi Raji , Billa, Muthu, Arunachalam, Padayappa, Baadsha & Shivaji .

Thalaivar ennaikume Thalaivar than ….

An ode to potato

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 258px; height: 196px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KUcG2BYDOBY/TIMkYWdppJI/AAAAAAAABCM/ChQeinoAurI/s320/images.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5513290369597023378" />
Salutations to your creators in Ecuador and Chile
Who grew you first and tasted with chilly
Great are they to spread you around
To thrive well in worldwide ground

Biologists may name you solanum tuberosum
But one meal of yours is daintily flavorsome
Idahoes, kennebees, spuds or taters
You just turn us into gluttonous eaters

Your population amounts to six million
Exclusively born to sensate many billions
Detestable are those white blight
Killing you and our scrumptious delight

Your lip smacking combination with sister tomato
Makes us addicted to you like brother tobacco
Smashing you makes our gustatory buds ring
That’s why People savor and worship you as shoestrings

Your babies growing secretly under soil
Make mind blowing combo with our blend of oils
I know you increase my tummy
But those curly French fries are irresistibly yummy

You are fried, baked and smoked
Tasty enough to impress any bloke
Taking avatar as delicious eatables
Potato!! I am saying this not because I haven’t been to other countries; I am saying this because even if I go to some other country I would love India as much as I do now without any miniscule level of reduction in the patriotic fervor. I have tried to illuminate the readers by unraveling the significant features of my country.

India has a long history to tell the world , longer than any developed country .Right from my childhood, I used to love Indian history especially the various kingdoms that have ruled many parts of the country and the freedom struggle suffered by our ancestors. India has had the best civilizations in the world. Take the Indus valley civilization for example; it had two storey buildings while other civilization that existing in that time had only huts. The civilization was also excelling in shipbuilding and had expertise in trade and commerce .We have been pioneers in many things like mathematics, medicine, literature, architecture and astronomy. It had the best of brains that was unmatched for a long period of time. The sulvashastras written during the Aryabhatta and Varahamihira’s time had the proof for Pythagoras theorem and mensuration of various geometrical figures. It will be error on my part if I don’t mention charaka, sushrutha , Patanjali , Pani for their contribution in medicine and literature.I still remember the detail answers that I used to write in history about Mughals, Guptas, Mauryas , Kakatiyas, Cholas, Pandyas, Cheras, Chandellas and the lessons about our archeological heritage and living heritage. It was one of my ambitions to see all these places and learn more about the reign which I did fulfill to some extent.

Born in such a country, I had always been fascinated by the variety and diversity that my country has. I love the cotton fabrics of India and the natural vegetable dies on it, the inimitable bandini work, the lucknowi chicken worked salwars, the zardosi work of kashmiris, the kanchipurams silks , the traditional clothes , the bindis, and literally anything that has good quality fabric with wonderful artwork. Being a connoisseur of food and arts goaded me to try many cuisines and art forms from various states .One thing which many people might be knowing is that each state in India has developed it own art work. I have tried to enumerate a few to increase your knowledge about our country
• Tanjore painting belong to TamilNadu and is a lavish art characterized by intricate gold work and precious stones .

• Warli painting belongs to Maharashtra and is done usually on a black blackround with people and their culture as main theme. You might often see a spiral shape formed by a group of people in this form of art .

• Madhubani or Mithila Painting is a style of Indian painting, practiced in the Mithila region of Bihar state and is done by in natural paper which looks somewhat like papyrus. Tea is usually coasted as to give a brown background.

• Pattachitra- one of the oldest and most popular art forms of Orissa. The name Pattachitra has evolved from the Sanskrit words patta, meaning canvas, and chitra, meaning picture. Pattachitra is thus a painting done on canvas, and is manifested by rich colourful application, creative motifs and designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly mythological in depiction.

• Gond paintings are extremely popular art among most tribes in Madhya Pradesh especially in Gond tribe of Mandala and are basically wall paintings originated Bundelkhand, Gondwana, Nimar and Malwa. The Gond paintings are the living expressions of the people of the tribal village that are deeply linked with their day to day lives.

• Kalamkari is a type of hand-painted or block-printed cotton textile, belongs to the state of Andra pradesh and is well known for the portrayal of Gods and the use of vegetable dyes. ( Posted pic is kalamkari)

Not to forget my favourite part , the food. Indian cuisine is one of the best and tickles the tastebuds with its various flavours and tastes which are totally absent in many parts of the world. India is very famous for spices and is an intrinsic part of every food throughout the country. Few of my favourite food inventions( a must try) by my ancestors are Idly, Dosa, vada, rasam, sambar , Indian breads with spicy side dishes including all vegetable , paneer and spices, pulao , stuffed parathas and the various sweets like basundi , rasagolas, malai sweets, mysorepak and what not !!!!!

Other significant things which deserve esteem are the Indian army, agricultural practices which give high yield in small arable lands (significant feature of our country), the lovely people and their various intricate traditions. The not so significant but integral part of the country include the filter coffee ,Assam tea ,the mangoes, the black crows, the staple foods ,chat items, the inscrutable Indian politics, the rickshaws , the autos, water tanker lorries, highway dabas, Indian movies, A.R. Rahman , Sachin ( they are newly formed religions) , the inumerous religions, the festivals, Indian railways, ambassador and Maruthi cars.

Though our country is excelling in many things there are certain despicable things which are inevitable is our country. Corruption, the king devil, has penetrated each and every nook of the country and drastically reduced the standards of people. Additionally, social evils like poverty and inequality are still prevalent throughout the country. Also the rapid socio-economic growth powered by globalization and liberalization has drastically changed our country which makes think which is more important- the old way of cultures or new ways for future. Moreover, aping the west has become a common phenomenon these days, which not only portray our gullibility but also degrades our country reputation of having a diverse culture. All these things have led, not only to mere apathy and hatred but has also aggravated into a condition called by-passers syndrome where people are totally unmoved by illegitimate practices prevailing in their society .

Though India is filled with many social evils, one should not forget that it has lot of good noteworthy things which we fail to realize in our day to day life. I am really overwhelmed by its diverse variety in every aspect of life. One day, I would like to transform my love towards the country by contributing something significant for its development.

Mera Bharath indeed mahan ……..

WO[MEN]

This is one the long awaiting article that I wanted to write.
Given below is an short and a specific analysis on few men and women who are in the age group of 15-30. I have penned it down based on my observation of men and women over the past few years. This passage is not intended to hurt anybody and throws light on few areas rather than a complete analysis which takes into account people from all over the world. The passage is random and is just a cascade of obseravations.

Breaking the “Ladies first” principle I have decided to write the first line about men first. Men do mature late when compared to women, but a close examination reveals that they mature better than women when viewed on the long run. They have ability to undertake responsibility of any degree. For instance I would say that men are more meticulous than women when applying for MS in US. Women do apply properly but they tend to take more time than men for the same work. The percentage of men wanting girl friends exceeds the percentage of women wanting boyfriends. Not all women are open when enquired with such questions. Men look out for girl friends to express their feelings ( and others censored things ) but they don’t realize that they end up dumping their feelings which may serve as a repulsive factor for women. Women are captivated by the bike rides and car rides that their boy friends offer. This shows their languor concealed in the name of affection. Since men enjoy such bike rides, it turns out to be a symbiotic practice. Extreme cases involve men buying bikes to take their girl friends. Women forget their caring and affectionate girl friends when they get boy friends. During the pre-boyfriend period they would have shared a lot with them, but post boy-friend period hinders them from sharing because of the new person to whom they vent their feelings. This phenomenon increases peer pressure among men and jealously among women.

Men are good in driving. Women are also good which men don’t realize but the percentage is less. Few girls are extremely emotional which is extremely difficult for men to understand. I would say that it is hundred times difficult than solving the toughest algorithm. Well talking about algorithms Women are very simple algorithm but when men approach it mutates into complex algorithms. Never forget the fact that simple algorithm is still capitulated in the complex one. Once men crack the complex one, life will be smooth if it is not affected by surrounding conditions.

Analogy based analyis

Women : art : : men : sport
Men !!never expect women to play cricket /dota /aoe with you. Women!! Don’t expect men to paint with you. Though the converse happens very frequently it reveals effeminate nature in men and tom boy character in women. E.g Marshall in ‘how I met your mother’ is extremely effeminate.

Women : gossip : : men : beer

Both are equally bad habits. Even in this case the converse is highly prevalent. Men don’t openly gossip, they call it discussion while women are quite open in this issue. Women don’t drink openly , even if they do , they call it curiosity or experimentation.

Women :dress( accessories) : : men : gadgets

Note clearly that both spent equal money on their favorite things. Women spend money intermittently when compared to men who give large amount in one settlement for a gadget.

Women: shyness : :men : prank

This observation was collected from a newspaper. When men like a girl they tend to play pranks on them. Not all women understand it. Women tend to be shy which is expressed in many ways other than the clichéd blushing which men know.

Women : boy bands : : men : rock music

Metallica, iron maiden ,Ozzy Osborne are 80% intended and liked by men . While women like boy bands like BSB, Nsync,Nickelback. Only very few girls like girl bands. Men like girl banded for you know what reason. 

Sensitive analysis

Women however modern look out for security, care and consistency in relationship. Only Few men look at these aspects , though they realize many things after their 40’s. Men look out for sensible, cultured girls who can handle their family so that they can put less effort for maintaining relationship. Men are more emotional and refuse to part their families after marriage and expect girl to be in complaisant with his family members. They forget the fact that women are the ones who leave their families. Yet it’s common to see men calling women emotional when they want to go to their house after marriage. Men should seriously consider this issue as they women tend to sacrifice more than men which they never accept. Women tend to dedicate their whole life to their children once they are born. They should spent time with their husbands also else a breach in relationship is surely to occur. Men tend to see the baby when they are born and forget to look at the wife immediately after delivery.( potrayed in all Indian movies)This is the most annoying part. Its like throwing the machine which has given you a profitable product.

Few men never budge their ass to do household work. When they arrive from office they pretend as if they were holding the earth all through the day time. Working women tend to balance everything and they do household work after they come home from office. Very very few men are consistent in appreciating the favour offered by women. Not to forget the fact cooking healthy food day after day without reduction in quality is the toughest and the most monotonous job to do in the world but women rarely get any appreciation for it. Few men consider it as shame to help their wives. Few women tend to frequent beauty parlour every week. They should know that beauty is one of the qualities not “ the quality” .These reasons were the toughest to find. Though men flirt with many girls they think about the women they like the most atleast once before they sleep. Women think about the men they like all the time even in their sleep. Relationships are strong only if it is consistent.

There is men in women………………………….
he in she ………………………………
& male in female

Do pour in the points as comments which I failed to mention.

Moo...mooo.moooo....

Today was one of those abominable days in my life where I had to put up with so many unethical things. The day started with a lull. So I decided go out with my dad to do his work.

The factory was situated in Ambur; a hub for leather industries in south India. The day started with a road trip to Ambur in a fully furnished Scorpio with LCD TV and ACs at every 30 degree angle of the car. Like any other tyro, I was basking in the luxury with no knowledge of my work in the factory.
I was given a task to verify the number of cowhides in a leather factory, which I can to know only after reaching the destination. I would say that it was a titanic task for a vegetarian like me. I had imagined a vague picture of a leather industry and was in for any kind of obnoxious sight I was to see there.

After reaching there we had a very bad response from the factory as they made us relax for hours and hours together [: P] while they were cooking on the stock reports. As my dad had to look into other details of the company he couldn’t accompany me. Once I got the report I started to the leather processing house with one of the non-co-operative vulpine worker there. The factory consisted of many halls which were divided on the basis on leather processing. Once you enter the factory you can see hordes of similar looking men wearing small white hat and long beard. I went straight into the raw leather area which readily made me puke. The raw leather is also called the wet blue leather and is light blue in colour- emanating all kinds of stenches all over the place due to traces of skin sticking to it all over. The worker purposely made me count the malodorous ones once he came to know that I am a pure vegetarian. Once the count of wet blue reeking leather was over I went on to the leather processing section.

Now comes the unwholesome description. Leather processing is one the toughest and the profitable industries in India. Indian leather is basically obtained from cow and calf and rarely from goat unlike other countries where hides are taken from all animals that is known to mankind. Lot of innocent docile cows are slaughtered in erode and their skins are ripped off to get the raw hide. The cowhide is hairy on one side and fleshy on the other. The raw hide is dried and sent off to Ambur for further processing. The wet blue hide is obtained by adding chemicals which will etch the remaining skin and impart light blue colour to the cowhide. Then they are ironed in large steam irons and soaked in all kinds of dyes that you have studied in chemistry to obtain the desired colour. The soft leather that is used to make shoes is made by etching the hairy side and constantly spraying in dyes with ironing and subsequent drying. (Ping for pictures). The export quality red leather is a detailed nasty process on its own. Along with the hide shredded skin is added and rolled in drum dryers with a chemical to obtain a smooth hairy texture. The most disheartening sight was the shape of the cowhide as it resembles the ventral part of innocent cow which was ruthlessly slaughtered. Few calf leathers were also processed but I didn’t want to see little innocent animal’s skin so I refused to go to that section. Crazy horse (horse’s name for cow’s hide: P), fiery Minnesota (to denote export quality) were few trade names that I saw there. [Rest of the content about workers suppressed due to business reasons 8-) ]

Now let’s come to compassionate part. “SAY NOT TO LEATHER” is the message of the day. As all activists say “change should come within oneself”. Guys can use rexin shoes, belts and wallets instead of leather. Go for alternative materials. Rexin is as good as leather in a way that innocent cows are not killed for it. Women can use cloth purse instead of leather.

BE THE CHANGE. SAY NOT TO LEATHER
Moo …moo...moo….(cow’s version)

24 April 2010

Toons Agogo

Cartoons have been one of my best companion since childhood. I grew up with them. They have never failed to entertain me anytime. It all started with tom and jerry in kindergarden which extended to He-man and swat cats in door darshan. From 4th standard cartoon network revolutionized my life. Everyday i use to watch all the cartoons from evening 3 to night 9 . As soon as i come home from school johnny quest would have got over and it will be continued by swat cats at 4. Before swat cats there was GI joe too.It was my brother's favorite. He used to ransack all the local shops to collect all G.I Joe toys. (esp the Vitan supermarket in luz). It was followed by Dexter's laboratory at 5. I used to love the special episodes on justice friends( Captain America, Hulk, and Thor) and dial-M for monkey. After dexter I watch powerpuff girl . I still remember all the bad guys in PPG -- mojo jojo, Him, the Amoeba boys , they were fun. Not to forget the scooby doo at 7 which had many sequels like scooby doo movies(globe trotters and inspector Ron, batman and robin were my favourites, scrappy doo and scooby doo (on Saturdays) and the general adventures of scooby doo (daily). The cartoon fanaticism reached its pinnacle with toonami hitting the carton network . I got mad over Dragon ball- z ( all time favorite ) .DBZ is surely an epic . ramayana--> mahabharatha--> DBZ . I consider it as one of the magnum opus of mankind. Toonami was also featuring Card captor Sakura in which Madison and Yue were my favorite characters. I was very dejected for many days when cartoon network stopped DBZ with Namek saga. The whole dbz club in school were curious to know what happened next .After few days of many conversations of all the characters we happened to get he story in internet. That was in 9th standard. When the dbz fervour was subsiding CN started the Pokemon. There wasnt a day i went to school without watching pokemon. No pokemon , no school was the mantra at that time. Other not so interesting cartoons are ' laff-a-lmpics' on sundays which had 3 team the yogi yahooeys, the really rottens and Scooby Doobies(my fav team), the Perils of Penelope Pitstop, The Richie rich, the Flintstones , jetsons (horrible) , looney toons, the Addams family, courage the cowardly dog, 'ed, edd and eddy '(dumb cartoon), samurai jack, 'sheep in the big city, and johnny bravo.

Though the CAS/set top box put an end to cartoon network it didnt reduce my zeal towards cartoons. I managed to watch dbz completely including DBGT (mad of Vegeta). Then came the Animax channel which had lovely cartoons. Two such awesome cartoons were the ' detective school Q' and samurai-X. ( I didnt like captain tsubasa although my brother was mad about it). Then the final epic that i watched was Naruto .I would say that only first 150 episodes were interesting after that i got saturated with anime cartoons and every episode was predictable and eventually ended to be a drone. Apart from watching cartoons I managed to collect CN goodies of my favourite cartoons too. These cartoons have shaped my childhood (adulthood too) and have always look back and cherish the beautiful memories I had with them. :)

written by Nirupama who refused to grow ........

Mumbai Meri Jaan

There had been many memorable trips in my life so far but nothing can beat my trip to ‘the land of vada paav’ for my research intern at institute of chemical technology (UDCT). As I was on board relaxing myself after a big stretch of stressful semester exams, the smell of vada paav n sukha bhel woke me up near Mumbai border (ratatouille effect) The train stopped at Dadar, one of the busiest areas in Mumbai, where the crowd wave just pushed me to the taxi stand near the side exit. Stood I, like a sheep in the big city, asking all taxi drivers to go to Wadala telephone exchange where my dad had arranged for a room in his company guesthouse located in Bombay dyeing mill complex. After 10-15 negotiations with many taxi drivers, we reached the guesthouse where we met Jaikishen Singh (the caretaker). Now this JaiKish really needs a good description. He looks like grizzly bear with a cherubic face. He hails from a village in Uttarkhand and all the people from his village are into this care taking job in various company guest –houses (note : jaikish’s dad , brother , granddad, greatgranddad have been doing this care-taking job all through their life :P). Patience personified Jai takes 2 hours solid to make 3 chapattis and a side dish, 1 hr for toasting 4 slices of bread, 1.5 hr for making an omelet and 30 mins for preparing a tea. By the time he cooks, I would have watched all my favorite programs in TV and finished two packets of biscuits. Lucky Nirupama got a hostel accommodation in the college, so moved to hostel as soon as Vasudha (co-intern) came. After searching for various rooms in hostel, we settled in for room number 137 in second floor. Later we came to know that the temperature conditions in room number 137 can be compared to that of furnace. (hostel content in this post suppressed due to lack of space)

Ok! Let us come to the main part. There are certain ‘not to be missed’ things when you are in Mumbai. First, one is the population. Mumbai is so densely populated that you will be having only 15sq.cm area for an individual in public places. Mobs move like tsunami and they will gobble you easily if you don’t know the pushing act (especially in trains). You can see mob wave everywhere – malls, markets, colleges, anywhere and everywhere, even between the rocks of beaches!!!

I would not be doing justice if I do not dedicate a paragraph for Mumbai local trains. This is my second visit to Mumbai. During my first visit to Mumbai, I was very fascinated by these local trains. After pestering my relative many times, he gave me a detailed explanation of how these local trains work. Owing to its high complexity, I had to erase it from my memory, so this time I had to explore these trains myself. Local trains are free adventure trips when the crowd percentage is less. When is mob waves are in station you needn't strain yourself to get into the train as the mob will do it for you. Another interesting thing in local trains is the ‘pan rain’( the one that you get when paan is mixed with multiple droplets of human saliva) . You are sure to experience this new type of rain if the mob had pushed you into the Gents compartment.
Once you settle comfortably in the train , you can experience this really really wonderful lady with a sweet voice announcing the arrival of all stations.I like her very much. In the new trains she would announce it in 3 languages- Hindi, Marathi and English. I liked the new trains as these had less paan content in windows and seats when compared to the old train, which have rusted windows and ‘paaned’ seats. You also have these small shopping areas inside the train compartments – from files, stationeries, hair bands , cosmetics to high grade polymer clips you get everything inside the trains and they are shopping friendly too as you can try and test the nail polishes and other girly girly beauty products that they sell. When the mob wave percentage is low in trains I would suggest you to stand near the door where you can experience the gusting winds of Mumbai, which will refreshen your face (fact! try it). I would recommend you to know something about the geography of Mumbai. You will again feel ‘sheep in the big city’ effect if you don’t. my experience has lead me to postulate a new law which states that there’s east and west in every area of Mumbai and the direction changes are directly proportional to the length of railway station.I was very happy that no railway station had north and south!! That would make me to postulate another law. (You can’t avoid that area thingy!!! Errrr)

Another ‘not to be missed thing’ is the shopping Malls. Shopping is a very good hobby that you can take up in Mumbai. Almost every area has a shopping mall where you can kill time by gaping at the various outlets there. Not to forget that mob-wave frequency is high in those regions so you have to be careful with your belongings in such places. I managed to visit –R-mall, in orbit, phoenix, infinity and nakshatra mall (
Dadar) (:P) (missed Raghuleela and few others) . You can consider yourself a dunce if you have forgotten to shop in Fashion Street and linking road. A pocket friendly shopping can be done in ‘homely’ Dadar, which offers variety of goods at a cheaper price. 60% of my valuable time and 100% of my intern amount was spent in shopping. 

Coming to my favorite part . Mumbai offers many snacks that will tickle your taste buds with its range of flavors. The alu-wadi, missal paav, khaleepeet, vada paav , paav bhaji ragda patties, ragda samosa, gola come under the traditional marathi snack category. The good old pani-puri , sukha bhel and other chat items are filled like oxygen all over the streets of Mumbai. Don’t miss the piyush (not so good) and falooda in Mumbai. Sizzling brownies in garnish hotel (matunga) is good. the idli house , mysore café and madras café have udipi style of cooking which is quite different from madrasi cooking. The idli and sambar that you get in Chennai is quite different from idli and sambar that you get in those 3 hotels. It didn’t live up to my expectations.

Other memorable things include bowling in phoenix mall, taxi rides, siddhi vinayak temple ( never miss it ), mahalakshmi temple ,beaches (bandra esp), masala papad(:P), ghatkopar aircel office(personal experience) , bikaner sweets in ghatkopar, Ict gardens,
Mess food, wolverine movie , gdy computers (gdy1 comp esp- the one with internet connection) , munna canteen tea and 2 rs parle-g biscuits, rains ,payal’s glass reactor,
the bathroom controversy in hostel, chetna youth festival in iskcon and finally friends.

Tiring journey , wonderful stay , somehow safely returned !!!!!
<img width='1' height='1' Now that I am to become a score next year and having experienced teenage to the fullest, I would wish to express the normal feelings of an average teenager in a right state of mind. Is this problem as important as the Indo –us nuclear deal. Nah, never. I would personally feel that each problem could be grouped into a big category called "status". Both the status of money and the status of mind each factor influencing each other. A close observation would reveal that every problem arise in a friend's circle and eventually ending there denoting that the friends influence the maximum in a teenagers life. A teenager's heart is like wet clay. You know that it is full of minerals but it is hard to find a right hand, which would shape it properly. After years of observation and intense contemplation over the human behavior, I managed to pen down few reasons attributing to the problems faced by teenagers. It is listed in the order of percentage of observed character.

1. Jealousy-It is the major root cause of problems sprouting out in many ways into the mind of teens. It may be expressed in many ways-

*economically backward on filthy rich and vice versa.

*jealousy on multitalented persons or persons who have mastered a particular talent.

*jealousy arising out of caste.worst cases include problems due to sub-caste and sub-creed too.

2. Inferiority complex-broadly expressed in two ways.

* First is the suppression of original character leading to hatred of one's self and thereby making them unable to express their feelings.

* Second kind is the exaggeration of their self/ excessive self-pity/materialistic behavior. Such kinds of people try to dominate people around them thinking that they are good at a particular field. They hurt people verbally, speak with bad double meanings, or may even backbite people. All these above reasons leading to hatred of people around them.

3. Inability to take their own decisions owing to their incapability to think originally.

4. Lack of material possessions, which are not affordable.

5. Lack of true friends, which makes them unable to trust people.

6. Devoid of boy friends/girl friends, this grows into a prestigious issue among their peer groups.

7.Extreme shyness-present both in girls and boys .When girls cry it is just a household problem and when boys cry it turns out to be matter of shame and worst case is when a famous person cry it is undoubtedly the next day headlines. Not to blame men! I would just put the blame on the background in which they are brought up. In India, men are brought up saying that they should stand brave, support the family, and not cry in any bad or critical situation. It is my basic idea that soul is the same and it takes different form as men and women.

8 As our witty ancestors said, "an idle mind is surely a devil's workshop". Teenagers are the major victims of the boredom syndrome. It is mainly due to lack of hobby and even if they have one, they get bored of it easily.

ALL THE ABOVE REASONS LEAD TO DISUNITY OF CLASSàINSTITUTIONàCITYàSTATEàCOUNTRYàA NATIONAL ISSUE WEARING A DIFFERENT MASK.

There are many more minor reasons for teenage problems, but I bet you can just include those problems under these categories. I am very much sure that every one of you would have experienced such situations in your life. This is not the point to stop. Having realized to what category you belong to you should try too overcome it to win life.

Keep in mind, its after all teenage, a part of life and not the entire life

ROBERT LANGDON'S ADVENTURES IN EGYPT

Cast

Robert Langdon: Tom hanks
Rameses: Richard Gere
Tutankhamen: kamal Hassan
Horus: super star Rajinikanth

Here’s an insight of Robert’s life.

Robert is the hero of Dan brown series of books.
